Ben de la Creme

Ben de la Crème was voted Ms. Congeniality of last season's Rue Paul's Drag Race, when my wife heard that she would be preforming at Oil Can Harry's on 4th Street she wanted me to paint her a picture to have her sign, and one to give to Ben de la Crème herself. My wonderful wife showed one of the bouncer's the painting and asked if we could get back stage to get her to sign it, and to our surprise they brought us backstage and we met Ben de la Crème, who was very excited about it and thanked us for such a beautiful painting.

Wings of Sefirot

Just finished a new project for a client who wanted a logo for a comic they were creating. After being provided with a sketch for the insignia and his description of the text he wanted, this is what I put together.Wings of Sefirot comes to us from Brandon Panagakos and I look forward to reading it. Look for it on comic store shelves next summer!

Custom Entertainment Center

This is a proof of concept that my brother and I built for personal use, the hope is to make a few of these for retail in skate-shops in Austin and a Consignment store in Longview TX. This example sits on two identical skateboard decks that act as the legs, the reverse side features another skateboard cut in half and mounted facing the opposite, coupled with a wide enough base this prevents it from falling forward. We ran red rope light underneath it to give it a wicked glow, and painted the frame to match, the Nissan Grill was salvaged from a classroom where it sat under a desk for years, I cleaned it up and mounted it on the front to give it a unique character. Everything that came off of the skateboards was recycled into the construction of the unit, with structural reinforcement, of course, which is why the x-box in this picture has skate trucks under it to allow airflow to cool the electronics so they don't overheat. Our next project like this will be a higher end version, minus the skateboards and using some old Lincoln parts, in blue.

Fading Embers Press Kit

After doing the production logo for Fading Embers I was asked to do the cover art for the Press Kit, which will be shopped around to investors and coupled with the Indigogo trailer will see to it that everyone gets paid. I brought some artists on board to help with the project, an animator and concept artist to help with the trailer, and a motion graphic artist with a background in marketing.

The cover art for the press kit will also function as one of at least two posters, the source images for the the second will be in the works soon, and now that I have the billing squared away and no other modifications that I've been informed of I can post it .
I painted the actors using a combination of facebook pictures and behind the scenes stills from the day of the trailer shoot with some google image references and a few from my library of reference model image. (This was a great project, 90% of this poster was my creation and i'm proud of it and grateful for the feedback from the production team, I think I'm going to like this line of work.)

The hope is to do another poster with all four of the main actors.

Experimenting with Comic Art and Painting in Photoshop

Trying to teach myself how to paint in Photoshop, since I'm trained in traditional media it's been a rough transition, but I sat down with my Wacom tablet and a big ass bottle of Dr. Pepper and hammered most of this out in two nights.

I started with the Line work:

Next I painted in  color with various layer effects and distortion techniques followed by many many hours of tweaking the details:

It's no Mona Lisa, but it's better than any of the other photoshop paintings I've done, I'm really proud of the results. The whole thing is meant to be a character concept for a new project I'm working on called "The Wall of Sand".

Cranking out logos

I'm working on making logo designs for both Armed Resistance Gaming (an Gamer Clan I'm apart of) and an interdependent film project shooting in Austin.

Fading Embers

is a project a friend of mine is working on so I told him if he needs any graphic work done let me know and I'd help out so in less than a day I had the concept below, and he asked if I could send him mock-ups in white, black and dark red to black gradient backgrounds. The skull originally sat in front of the flames like this:

but he asked if I could make it look like the skull was inside the flames instead, and I think that the result looks much better:

Armed Resistance Gaming

This project I did for the Halo Clan I play with, each time one of their branches reaches 50 members they split off into another branch named after a ship in the Halo Universe.

Infinity branch I think worked out better than the other three, (Atlas, Phoenix, and Spirit of Fire were less than stellar in my opinion, though the branch members loved them I'd rather not post them until I get them just right.)

Armed Resistance is also currently holding a design competition to see who can come up with the best t-shirt design, after two weeks of painstaking detail work in Adobe Illustrator, I finally finished mine:

They announce the winner in a month and they get their gamer ID printed on the shirt and a shirt with their design printed on it, fingers crossed.

Though none of the jobs I posted above pay at least I can practice my Illustrator skills in Adobe and show it off to potential clients, not a bad trade off.
